The US Police & Fire Championship is extending a great volunteer opportunity for any of you D-ball Enthusiast to be a part of a great new D-ball Event in San Diego. I have been appointed to help with the 2012 US Police & Fire Championship Dodgeball Event Tuesday, June 19, 2012. This event will be in San Diego indefinitely so we have an opportunity to grow the Dodgeball Event to be the better and more popular each year. They had 80 teams for their Dodgeball event when it was in New York and we should have about 30 teams for this first time event in San Diego. The goal will be to build the SD event to be larger, sexier, and just way more awesome than the NY one each year. About the Event: What began in 1967 as the California Police Olympics is continuing to spread its influence across the United States of America. With the continued expansion to include all 50 states, the Games will be known as the United States Police and Fire Championships (USPFC). The Championships are the property of the California Police Athletic Federation and are presented in partnership with the San Diego Sports Commission. The Championships will represent over 55 different sporting events with nearly 5,000 competitors. The purpose of the games is to encourage and promote a closer bond of fraternity and facilitate harmonious relations among members of the law enforcement and fire safety service at the Federal, State, County and Municipal levels through athletic competition. The inaugural Championships will be hosted in San Diego, California, a city that lends itself as the perfect backdrop for the USPFC. Website: http://uspfc.org/ We are looking for volunteers basically all day on Tuesday, June 19, 2012- in 4-8 hour time shifts (or however long you crazy kids want to come out). We will need Ref?s, ball shaggers, score keepers, registration, and just people dressed up with high energy ready to do whatever?I know there has been talk of some DJ/MC work by Cory Morrison and Steve Valencia. So come help make this fun and high energy event, hopefully with many of your DIL?ers! So far we have a large section of the Town & Country Resort Ballroom and will tape off 4 regulation courts with about 30 teams in a Round Robyn format followed by a double elimination medal round. Good Afternoon Dil'ers! All-Star Results are in, and here are the two teams. Team 1 Tim Fullerton (captain), Colin Governski, Ben Wilson, Steve Valencia, Cyruss Rust, Justin Nocella, Cory Morrison, Katie Lockwood, Animae Thomson-Koller, Liz Valencia, Kat Nguyen, and Katie Robinson. Team 2 Miranda Maclean (captain), Kelly Salamone, Carrie Wootan, Shannon Barnahardt, Michelle Nguyen, Anthony Miller, Justin Payan, Casey Moses, John Sailing, AJ Marine, Curtis Manlapig, and Ryan Alexander. As a reminder, the game will go for 2.5 full hrs, so be prepared to get your cardio in. Game time starts at 7:15 sharp and ends at 9:45. Let us know if you're not going to be able to make it so we can try to find a sub for you. Also, if you happened to barely miss the All-Star cut, the Entrance sie court will be open for pick-up dodgeball. It's free to invite whomever you want to come out and experience the game.
